Welcome to Tait Mackrill
The Maroubra Saints committee is really pleased to announce that Tait Mackrill will be joining our club in 2022 as our U18YG coach and girls ambassador. Tait lives and breathes footy and ties in with our “if you can see it you can be it” mentality.
Tait is originally from country SA growing up playing football with the boys in the country. She travelled to Adelaide to train and play on a regular basis before moving to the women’s competition in Adelaide when she was 15. Tait was recruited to the GWS Giants AFLW side in 2017.
Whist continuing to play for the GWS Giants, Tait also plays for the UTS Bats in her off season and also holds an assistant coaching role with the Women’s Premier Division side. Tait has also been coaching in the Schools Pathway and is currently coaching AFL at St Catherine’s School.
Tait has an excellent footy brain and will be a great mentor to our young girls whether aspiring to play AFLW or playing for fun. I am sure all the girls will benefit from having Tait at the club and especially coaching the U18’s.
Some of Tait’s AFLW highlights are:
Round 6 of the 2020 AFLW season Tait received a Rising Star Nomination with a stand out game and 20 disposals in the Giants win over Adelaide.
In 2021 Tait received the inaugural Jacinda Barclay Fearless Award, this award recognises an individual in each game that epitomises the team’s values and plays in a selfless and fearless fashion.
