About us
2025 marks our 25th season! The Maroubra Saints have been fielding junior AFL teams in the local area since 2000, and we’re proud to be the largest junior AFL club in Sydney.
Our commitment to excellence and community was recognised when we won the AFL NSW Community Club of the Year in 2023, followed by Community Coach of the Year awards in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
We are pioneers in youth girls’ football, with at least two teams in every age group. We have a strong commitment to developing and recruiting female coaches to support our growing program and provide positive role models for all our players.
At Maroubra Saints, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive, family-run club where we have a team for every player. We create an environment where every child has the chance to thrive, have fun, and develop a lifelong love of sport.
We are a strong, engaged community where volunteering is easy, rewarding, and well-supported. Our philosophy balances a love for the game with the perfect mix of competition and participation.
There’s no better time to be playing AFL with the Maroubra Saints!
Grounds
Home games are played on Saturday and Sunday at:
Heffron Park, Maroubra (Jersey Road)
Pioneers Oval, Malabar
Away games are played across Sydney at various locations. Your team manager will provide details.
More details on our fixtures page.
Uniform
Maroubra Saints jerseys are supplied free of charge as part of our commitment to keeping AFL accessible for all families. In the spirit of sustainability, jerseys are handed out prior to the first game of the season and are returned at the end of season.
Saints socks, shorts and training tops are available for purchase from the Club canteen during the season.
Players are required to wear footy boots and a mouth guard (essential from U8’s up).
Wet Weather
From time to time we have home games cancelled by local council due to wet weather to avoid damage to the playing grounds. If you are in any doubt as to whether training or a weekend game is cancelled, always check communications from your team manager and keep an eye on our social media pages. We endeavour to update it as soon as any confirmation is received. Field status for all locations can be found at wetweathercheck.com and entering the ground name.
Volunteering (Please help!)
Maroubra Saints is run by volunteers and we need all the help we can get to make our club successful.
Team Volunteers
Every team will need volunteers to be:
- Coach
- Team Manager
- Ground Manager (for home games)
- Goal umpire
Club Volunteers
In addition, we need any help you can provide in running the Maroubra Saints. If you have skills in any field or any spare time (no commitment too small), please contact us at info@maroubrasaints.com.
Game Day Support
Every family will be allocated BBQ or Canteen duties for home games during the season. BBQ duties are a great way to get to know others at the Club and build our community spirit.
Coaching
Our coaches are accredited and volunteer their time each week to teach the skills of the game as well as sportsmanship, team play, and most of all, fun. If you’re interested in coaching or managing this season, we’d love to hear from you!
Support, development opportunities, and resources are available to help you succeed in the role. Whether you’re a seasoned coach or just starting, your contribution is invaluable to our club.
We are actively working to increase diversity in our coaching ranks and would especially love to see more female coaches join the club!
