Dear Maroubra Saints Families
You may have seen, AFL NSW has decided to postpone the start of the 2020 season until 31 May 2020 in response to the COVID-19 situation. This applies to all age groups – Auskick to U18.
What this means is that there will be no training, matches, or other Club activities until 31 May 2020 at the earliest.
No doubt this was a very difficult decision for the AFL. The Club’s view is it is the right decision and is in the interests of our players, volunteers, their families and the broader Saints community.
These are uncertain and difficult times but the Club remains hopeful there will be some form of a 2020 season ahead. We will keep you updated as information comes to hand. If you have any questions we encourage you to check the AFL’s Q&A page in the first instance. The link is here – https://play.afl/covid-19/faqs. If you cannot find the answer then please email the Club at: firstname.lastname@example.org and we will respond as soon as we can.
We cannot control this COVID-19 situation, but as Sainters there are things we can control.
We can step up and remain calm, strong, resilient and connected.
We are all “social distancing” at the moment, so let’s use Social Media to show how as a Club we are taking on this situation.
Please send through your favourite photos showing how you and your family are meeting this challenge and staying “Match Ready” to: email@example.com.
Let’s be creative, we are thinking things like: indoor training; backyard or balcony training; how to train whilst observing “social distancing”; catching up on grand final coverage on TV; anything else you can come up with.
We will share on Social Media to show how as a Club we are meeting this challenge head on. Also, if you are posting your own photos please tag us on: @maroubrasaintsjuniorafl and use the #stillkicking
Stay safe and keep those hands washed. And we will be in touch soon.
